The Matrix School

Competitions

Ignacio Estrada once said "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." The Matrix School strives to provide spaces for adaptive and varied teaching catering for the unique learning capabilities of every one of its students. Through a variety of innovative classrooms, learning is tailored to the student's requirements, challenging them and exposing them to new learning techniques. The proposed site for the project is on Sentrum Road in Randburg, Adjacent to the Randburg Square Shopping Centre. The site is currently being used as a ground level parking area for the Boston City College Students. The new school will uplift the surrounding community providing a well-needed educational facility for the residents in the nearby apartment blocks and giving access to all students and residents when it is not in use by schoolchildren. The Matrix School moulds young children, giving them access to a variety of different learning spaces allowing them to find their own preferences. It will aid in developing the younger generation within a complex framework held up by a lattice structural system. The building, like its users, is meant to appear as if it is being moulded, supported by the matrix-like framework.
