This project, which may seem small, drew an enormous amount of skill and time from the Paragon practice. The exercise was to design and construct a stand at the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) 2014 conference, to house a screen of work and to display the models printed in 3D. The firm is well skilled in Revit and wanted to explore extending their experience into Rhino and so decided to generate a sketch by hand and then explore surfaces and volumes in a 3m x 3m x 2.4m high stand constructed from Xanitha board. Although the structure was only up for two days, it has been possible to disassemble it and ship it back to the firm's office in Johannesburg. This was not just a superficial exercise. The lessons learnt will be extrapolated into the work that they do on their buildings and interiors, so it has been somewhat of a fun exercise, but with valuable lessons learnt.
